Newly reupholstered Armless chairs in mahogany wood.  Bullnose front apron and seat pillow. Canvas strapping under pillow. Back uprights have a groove for the willow to slide. T.H.Robsjohn-Gibbings in the late 1930's and 1940s was the most important decorator in America.  After opening a shop on New York's Madison Avenue in 1936, he proceeded to design houses from coast to coast for such scions as Doris Duke, Alfred Knopf and Thelma Chrysler Foy. "Gibby" worked as a designer for Widdicomb Furniture Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1943 to 1956.  Made in the United States circa 1945.  Condition:  Excellent.
